Safety Measures Matter is a 501c(3) boots-on-the-ground community organization whose purpose is to bring resources into the community through street and community outreach servicing DC residents, particularly returning citizens, where they live and work.
The purpose of Safety Measures Matter is to assist returning citizens reacclimate to community life and to stamp out gun violence experienced by DC youth.
Safety Measures Matter seeks to increase awareness, advocate for returning citizens, and be a resource for groups working to support them.
Safety Measures Matter works to circumvent the school to prison and schoolyard to graveyard path of DC youth by supporting students working to end gun violence through education services and mentorship.

Safety Measures Matter is exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) as a public charity. Donors can deduct contributions made to Safety Measures Matter under IRC Section 170. Safety Measures Matter is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
